Mike began his training in the art of Jeet Kune Do in private sessions with Sifu Jeremy Lynch in 2003. In 2005, Sifu Lynch brought him to Tim Tackett's famous "JKD Wednesday Night Group", where he met Bruce Lee students Bob Bremer & Jim Sewell. He was lucky enough to have the opportunity to pick their brains for the next two years until Sifu Bremer's physical condition prevented him from attending the Wednesday Night Group on a regular basis.

Mike considers Sifu Jeremy Lynch his greatest influence in the martial arts, while crediting Sifu Tackett with providing a greater understanding of the principles of Jeet Kune Do. He is an instructor under Tim Tackett, Bob Bremer, & Jim Sewell (JKD Wednesday Night Group) as well as Jeremy Lynch and the Chinatown JKD Association. He continues to seek guidance from Sifu Tackett, Sifu Lynch and Sifu Dennis Blue.

Mike teaches mostly private lessons in Chinatown JKD, Combatives, and assists in various workshops and seminars. He has also authored several articles on Jeet Kune Do and Combatives which have been featured in Black Belt Magazine, Martial Arts Illustrated, and other international publications.
